Projects
Over the years, I have been a part of a number of projects and initiatives driven by hockey card collection. Please have a read about them and feel free to ask me questions. Thank you.
Upper Deck First Peoples Rookie Cards
From 2020-2023, I worked with Upper Deck in the production, printing, and distributing of the First Peoples' Rookie Cards set. The first ever all-Indigenous hockey card set to honour NHL players of Indigenous ancestry who never had an NHL-licensed hockey card during their career.
Base Cards for Kids
In April of 2021, I put out a request to the hobby community via my social media platforms on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. I wanted to be able to share the hobby with Indigenous youth across Canada and asked if collectors could make donations of base cards of Indigenous (First Nations, Mêtis, and Inuit) NHL & any other pro players who are Indigenous. This project is still ongoing today.
Indigenous Jersey Day
In May 2021, following the Oilers elimination from the playoffs, Ethan Bear fell under scrutiny over a giveaway in the dying seconds of an Oilers playoff game vs the Winnipeg Jets that led to a game-tying goal that sent the game into overtime. The Oilers would lose the game in OT and Ethan faced much discrimination via social media. This initiative was in support of not only Ethan but all Indigenous athletes and youth!
